Laura Carlin is with us

Laura_carlin_webGreat news on this happy Friday. The highly regarded UK illustrator Laura Carlin has joined the Memories project. I did an interview with her for Design Week a few weeks ago and couldn’t resist asking her to do an image for us afterwards. I would be remiss in my responsibilities to this project if I didn’t because she has done some amazing stuff!

Recent work includes illustrations for a collection of Chekhov short stories released by the Folio Society in March. The Folio Society are serious about books, and produce high-quality volumes for serious readers… not just anybody gets to illustrate these babies. Using watercolour and ink Laura has also been getting into ceramics. Her latest project is a new set of illustrations for the Iron Man by Ted Hughes which is being reprinted for an October release by Walker Books and Faber and Faber (see image above). She is also an ADC Young Gun. We’re so glad Laura can be on board. She told me that her father died of a brain tumour, like mine did, so I know that this project will mean something to her beyond just producing an image. Please check out her portfolio here.
